I am a sworn legal translator and interpreter for the Courts and Public Prosecution Services of the Federal State of Baden-Wurttemberg.

My services include:

Translations from English and Russian into German of legal and medical market research texts
Interpreting between English and German for courts, the police and public authorities
Proofreading and revision of translations, German native speaker checks for publishers

Skills and experience

Born and raised in Germany, my mother tongue is German and I have a Masters degree in Russian language and literature from Moscow University. In 1992, I moved with my family to Oxford (UK) and qualified as a legal translator and interpreter for court and police work. In 1998 I became NRPSI registered and since acquired an in-depth knowledge of the legal system of England and Wales. Due to my high security clearance I have been involved in numerous complex police investigations and court cases with links to Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Russia. In September 2015, I relocated back to Germany and I am now also sworn as a legal translator and interpreter by the Courts and Public Prosecution Services of Baden-Wurttemberg.

As a professional linguist l can assure my clients that all projects will be handled to the highest standards of confidentiality and security in accordance with GDPR.

Quality

Almost all of my translations are into my mother tongue German. For larger projects I sometimes work with other qualified colleagues, but Translaw is not a language agency – if I am unable to deal with a specific job or language combination, I’ll be happy to recommend other professionals either in the UK or in Germany. I provide detailed quotations free of charge with specific deadlines for high quality linguistic services.

Collaboration

I frequently work with my colleague Erika Baker in the UK to ensure that my translations are proofread by a qualified linguist. Erika is an experienced translator for German-English and a long-standing member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists. She specialises in im ports/exports and B2B support.
